During college I studied abroad in Italy, and Italians have this phrase: fare una bella figura – it means to impress with one’s appearance.
If you’ve ever been to Italy or have learned of the Italian culture you know what I’m talking about, the people there just have this sort of effortlessness about them. Barefoot or in the finest leather, short hair or long, Italians are just happy in their skin. At first translation fare una bella figura may seem like a superficial mantra (que thoughts of Sophia Loren).
But its meaning is more a way of life than a reflection in the mirror.
Through this blog I look to share things that bring more fare una bella figura into my life, and then hopefully yours as well. Whether it’s by incorporating a healthier lifestyle, traveling to new places or buying beautiful clothing, feeling good about yourself is one of the most important things in life and I think we all could use a little more fare una bella figura from time to time.
